Rate Limits
API throttling
The specific throttling rules and rate limits for each endpoint depend on your contract agreement with SECUTIX. These limits are determined by:
- Your client_id and contract terms
- The endpoint classification (LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH)
Global Throttling
There is always a global throttling limit associated with your client_id. This limits the total number of webservice calls you can do per second.
Example: 20 requests per second
Endpoint specific throttling
Some endpoints may have additional specific limitations indicated on their documentation page. This limitation is applied in addition to the global throttling limitation.
- LOW: Endpoints designed for infrequent operations with strict rate limits (example: 1 request per second)
- MEDIUM: Endpoints for moderate usage with balanced rate limits (example: 5 requests per second)
- HIGH: Endpoints optimized for high-frequency operations with generous rate limits (example : same as global limit)
The classification of each endpoint is clearly indicated in its API documentation page.
Usage Plans
Your rate limits are determined by the usage plan assigned to your integration. Each plan is tailored to a specific integration pattern and comes in three volume tiers: BASIC, STANDARD, and PREMIUM.
Available Plans
| Plan | Integration Pattern | BASIC | STANDARD | PREMIUM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TS_CATALOG | Catalog Display | 8 req/s · 80K/day | 40 req/s · 400K/day | 200 req/s · 2M/day |
| TS_PARTIAL | Partial Integration | 18 req/s · 180K/day | 90 req/s · 900K/day | 450 req/s · 4.5M/day |
| TS_END_TO_END | End-to-End | 30 req/s · 300K/day | 150 req/s · 1.5M/day | 750 req/s · 7.5M/day |
| TICKET_DISTRIBUTION | Ticket Distribution | 10 req/s · 100K/day | 50 req/s · 500K/day | 250 req/s · 2.5M/day |
| CRM | CRM Integration | 5 req/s · 50K/day | 25 req/s · 250K/day | 125 req/s · 1.25M/day |
| ACCESS_CONTROL | Access Control | 2 req/s · 10K/day | — | — |
Burst limits are set to 2× the rate in all plans.
Endpoint Throttling Within Plans
Within each plan, endpoints are throttled based on their classification:
| Classification | BASIC | STANDARD | PREMIUM | Typical endpoints |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LOW | 1 req/s | 5 req/s | 25 req/s | Contact search, catalog search, ticket list export |
| MEDIUM | 3 req/s | 15 req/s | 75 req/s | Order creation, sale finalization, contact creation, PDF generation |
| HIGH | Follows global | Follows global | Follows global | Catalog reads, order details, task polling, ticket details |
Requesting a Plan
Contact your SECUTIX representative to select or upgrade your usage plan.
Handle throttling in code
If you reach your rate limits, you could receive an HTTP Status Code 429 (Too Many Requests).
If your system triggers this error code, please refrain from making additional requests until the appropriate amount of time has elapsed.
Recommendations to reduce calls to SECUTIX endpoints
If you reach your rate limits, you will need to reduce the number of calls you make to SECUTIX endpoints. The specifics depend on your use case, but here are some recommendations:
-
Use caching mechanisms
-
Implement a queuing mechanism to flatten your calls over time.
-
If your frontend is receiving lots of visitors, build a mechanism to control the visitor rate.
